XPHERION CPS

High‑Performance Carbon Black for a Circular Economy

The Xpherion™ Carbon Process System (CPS) is Taqyon Quantum Materials Corp.’s breakthrough platform for upgrading low‑value hydrophobic recovered carbon black (rCB) from tire pyrolysis into premium hydrophilic Carbon Black (hCB) engineered for high‑performance tires, conductive materials, plastics, and specialty applications.

Xpherion CPS delivers N220‑grade rCB quality, enabling full replacement of virgin carbon black in demanding industrial formulations.

Progress to Market for 2026

Complete Overview

Hydrophilic Carbon Black (hCB) — Engineered for Performance

Traditional pyrolysis rCB is hydrophobic, inconsistent, and limited to partial substitution.

Xpherion CPS transforms this material into hydrophilic, surface‑engineered hCB with:

Superior dispersion-Enhanced reinforcement-Lower impurity levels

-Improved compatibility with rubber and polymer systems will offer ASTM‑validated performance equivalent to virgin carbon black.

This enables 100% replacement of virgin carbon black across multiple industries.

Advanced Performance through Hydra 4040 blending To meet specialized performance requirements, Xpherion integrates Taqyon’s hydrogen‑doped GIC (Graphite Intercalation Compound) — Hydra 4040.

Different percentage loadings of Hydra 4040 can be blended with Xpherion hCB to create tailored performance profiles for:

  • Tires
  • Enhanced reinforcement
  • Lower rolling resistance
  • Improved dynamic properties
  • Conductive Inks & Coatings
  • Higher conductivity
  • Better dispersion
  • Stable hydrophilic behavior
  • Plastics & Masterbatch
  • Improved mechanical strength
  • Conductive or antistatic properties
  • Better polymer compatibility
  • Specialty Materials
  • Energy storage
  • EMI shielding
  • High‑performance composites

This modular blending system allows manufacturers to dial in precise performance characteristics for their product lines.

ASTM‑Aligned Quality Validation

Xpherion will be validating all incoming pyrolysis rCB samples to ensure they meet the hydrophilic transformation criteria and downstream OEM requirements.

Key Properties Evaluated

  • Ash content
  • Carbon content
  • Surface area (BET)
  • Structure (OAN / COAN)
  • Impurities (PAH, sulfur, metals)
  • Reinforcing performance in rubber compounds
  • Relevant ASTM Standards
  • ASTM D8474 — Thermogravimetric analysis for organic residue, fixed carbon, and ash
  • ASTM Committee D36 — Recovered Carbon Black testing methods adapted from virgin carbon black standards

This ensures Xpherion hCB meets the strict quality expectations of tire manufacturers and industrial compounders.

We are currently in final process of eliminating ash content to have hCB equal N220 quality.
